For Brian Schnoll, Vice President of Gianarelli Painting, volunteerism is a key factor in both his professional and personal life. Gainarelli Painting has been providing Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia with skilled volunteers and resources from their company for years. The painting company recently completed all 21 of the Diamond Park homes in North East Philadelphia, and are continuing their stewardship by painting all 20 homes in Oxford Green, our new affordable home project under construction in Sharswood, North Philadelphia.
“It’s important for me to continue donating my company’s resources because, in my Jewish heritage, we call it Mitzvah. It makes me feel good that I can do it, and I truly believe it’s my duty as an owner of a very financially strong company to promote socially-minded capitalism and share our resources.”
Skilled volunteers are vital to affordable home non-profits like Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia. Volunteers share knowledge in their trade, as well as the stick-to-it-ivness needed to make housing more accessible to all. Brian remembers while volunteering personally with Habitat, “I said, I have a commercial painting firm and realized there could definitely be some synergy between our respective organizations. I asked if I could volunteer my manpower for some of your projects. I believe Diamond Park was the first one.”
“I was really happy to see 21 homes in Diamond Park be completed and come to fruition. I know this program truly helps families excel forward in life. It’s a shining example of hard work and something to be responsible and accountable for. The children growing up in these homes will look up to their parents and be inspired by their hard work and home ownership achievement. All these lessons and morals permeate the social fabric of neighborhoods and social circles.”
Gianarelli’s commitment to Diamond Park sparked a movement that will directly affect individuals in our Homeownership Program—ensuring that through their work, individuals have stable structures to keep their families safe, warm, and dry. Soon, they will assist 20 more families who are ready to call Oxford Green home.
