As Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, Carrie oversees Habitat Philadelphia’s neighborhood revitalization, government relations and advocacy work, serving as a connector between Habitat, the community and our partners.
Carrie joined Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia in December of 2013, after a five-year tenure as Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Philadelphia, another volunteer-driven housing organization that provides critical repairs for low-income homeowners. At Habitat, Carrie focuses on deepening the organization’s impact and increasing its resources through internal initiatives, cross department collaboration and collaboration with external actors.
Carrie holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in special education from John Hopkins University. She has a certificate in non-profit management and financial management from the Nonprofit Center at La Salle University’s School of Business.
Since arriving at Habitat, Carrie has spearheaded the organization’s advocacy work, leading efforts across the Pennsylvanian affiliate network through coordinated events like Habitat on Harrisburg, a day of action with state legislators.
Prior to working in affordable housing, she taught in the Baltimore City Public School system and later worked as the Assistant Director of Philadelphia Reads, a local literacy organization dedicated to raising a city of readers throughout Philadelphia.
Aside from her work at Habitat, Carrie is engaged in her West Philadelphia neighborhood and enjoys spending time outdoors. She participates in community-led activism through participation in Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) and Yes In My Backyard (YIMBY).
“I build because I see how having a stable home makes it easier for people to access other opportunities and thrive.”
