Join Troy Hannigan of Community Ventures and Tya Winn of the Community Design Collaborative alongside Habitat for Humanity’s Young Professionals group for a conversation that demystifies “affordable” housing. This conversation will be moderated by Director of Policy at City of Philadelphia Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity Beth McConnell. The term “affordable” can take on a range of meanings, where financing and regulation can provide complexity for landlords and developers, and negative connotations can affect the location of units and for whom they are built. A lack of collective understanding can create challenges for political leaders and grassroots advocates looking to destigmatize affordability and achieve equity in housing.
