building brighter futures abroad

Global Village

Each year, Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia sends a team of volunteers for a week-long build abroad. This Global Village trip is a unique opportunity to contribute to Habitat’s work and create positive change in the world. Volunteers learn more about affordable housing, development challenges and Habitat’s mission, while getting a chance to experience the community’s culture and social practices alongside homeowners and volunteers. This year’s build will take place in Antigua, Guatemala from November 2-10, 2019.

Global Village Trip Costs (as of 2019)

Work alongside Habitat Guatemala families and with the Habitat Philadelphia Global Village Team. This trip is a first-come, first-serve opportunity with space for 13 team members. Each team member will be responsible for their individual contribution.

Registration for the trip is $150 (non-refundable). This reserves your space on the team and will be applied to your overall fundraising goal. $1,601 will cover program costs including donations to Habitat for Humanity Guatemala and Habitat for Humanity International, meals, accommodations, transport (excluding airfare,) predetermined cultural activities, health, accident, and emergency evacuation insurance, and team coordination from HFHI and the host program.

Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia has fundraising tools to help you crowdfund to support your trip. Round trip airfare from Philadelphia to Guatemala City is estimated at $590 (based on flights researched on 01/28/2019).

We are excited to share that we have 14 individuals ready to embark on our 2019 Global Village trip.  If you would like to learn about future Global Village opportunities, reach out to Deidra Duncan, Director of Development for more information.
