Building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter, Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia is excited to partner with the Habitat Philadelphia Young Professionals on MLK Day of Service 2020 to work on repairing a home!
Volunteers will work onsite with a Habitat Site Supervisor and AmeriCorps members. No previous construction experience is needed and our skilled staff will teach you everything you need to know to complete the work for the day. Because of the nature of the repair work we will be doing, respirators and Tyvek suits will be mandatory, so we request that volunteers understand that discomfort with the suits/respirators or respiratory issues will prohibit their ability to volunteer that day.
The job is located in Germantown. Volunteers will meet the Habitat staff at the house at 8:30am. More information and addresses provided on the sign-up sheet below. Please arrive on time so we can orient your group with an introduction, a few safety tips, and so we can get started on schedule.
The volunteer day will be from 8:30am – 3:30pm. Please bring a bag lunch and snacks as needed. Water will be available onsite. We recommend that volunteers come dressed in layers, as the day may be chilly. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Closed-toed shoes are required. Habitat Philadelphia will provide all of the safety equipment, materials, and tools that are needed.
If you have any other questions about the day, please contact volunteer@habitatphiladelphia.org or (215) 765-6000 x10. Thank you in advance for your service with Habitat Philadelphia! We look forward to working with you!
