MLK Construction Day of Service

Building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter, Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia is excited to partner with the Habitat Philadelphia Young Professionals in building quality homes for families in need on MLK Day of Service 2020. Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia is building 20 affordable homes in the Sharswood community of North Philadelphia. Volunteers will meet the Habitat staff at 2300 W. Oxford St, Philadelphia, PA 19121 at 8:30am. Please arrive on time so we can orient your group with an introduction, a few safety tips, and so we can get started on schedule. The work scope will vary depending on the phase of construction we are in, but please know that all of the work we have for our volunteers is essential to helping families have a safe, affordable place to call home. It’s important to remember that no skill or construction experience is necessary —  just a readiness to help out!

The workday is from 8:30am – 3:30pm with a lunch break at noon. We suggest you bring a bagged lunch as there are limited options nearby. You will be working outside all day so please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes, and dress in layers that you don’t mind getting dirty. We suggest you wear work boots, but sneakers work fine as well. We will provide all the tools and safety equipment you will need.

If you have any other questions about the day, please contact volunteer@habitatphiladelphia.org or (215) 765-6000 x10. Thank you in advance for your service with Habitat Philadelphia! We look forward to working with you!
