COVID-19 Message from the CEO

March 13, 2020

Dear Friend,

As builders at Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia, the safety of our staff, volunteers, homeowners, and the communities we work alongside has always been our top priority. We have been monitoring the spread of COVID-19 and have decided that Habitat Philadelphia’s office, construction team, home repair team and ReStore will suspend operations effective immediately.

This decision was incredibly difficult. Every day that we are not building and repairing homes in our city is another day that one of our homeowners does not have a healthy, warm, safe, and dry place to call home. However, given recent developments surrounding COVID-19, we need to prioritize the health of our staff members to ensure the health of our colleagues, families, and homeowners that we work alongside.

Our thoughts are with those who have already been affected by the pandemic, and hope that by suspending our work, we can do our part to help to limit the transmission of COVID-19 in our city.

At Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia we are builders. We work alongside, not for, others. We are driven by accountability and defined by our stick-to-it-iveness. These core values guide our work every day, and we lean on them even more during this difficult time.

We look forward to re-opening our doors as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience as we work through this together. In the meantime, please know that despite having to close our doors temporarily, we will never stop working toward a city where everyone has a decent place to live.

In partnership,

Corinne O’Connell
CEO
