Hi, I’m Amber!
This past summer, my children and I moved into our forever home at Rosalynn’s Way in West Philadelphia.
Family has always been the most important thing for me. When I was blessed with my twins, I wanted more than anything to provide them with a comfortable space where they could grow and thrive.
But, even with a steady job, renting at market rate or saving for a down payment was simply out of reach. I lived with my parents, my younger sisters, and the twins. We quickly outgrew the space, and I knew it was time to take the next step.
The need for affordable housing
Half of Philadelphians spend more than 30% of their income on housing, limiting funds for other essential needs.
I searched high and low for different housing options until I discovered Habitat for Humanity. My sister had just been accepted into the Homeownership program, and I hoped to do the same. Once I met all the qualifications, I got the call and was beyond ecstatic – crying tears of joy and disbelief – as I began my homeownership journey.
Every moment in this home has felt like a dream.
Every day, my kids are so excited to play and enjoy their own space. I can take them outside to ride their bikes, and they go to a great school just a few blocks away. I’m just so happy and proud that we’re here, together.
This program changed our lives in a way I never could have on my own. Even though I worked hard – extra hard – homeownership would not have been possible without Habitat and every person who supports the work.
Your support makes all the difference for families like mine — helping us achieve homeownership and build something that lasts, to pass on to our children. Because of you, Habitat can tailor mortgages to meet each family’s needs and make homeownership truly affordable.
Your gift today means more families in Philadelphia can experience the life-changing impact of homeownership like I have.
Thank you,
Amber
