West Philadelphia Repair Initiative

West Philadelphia Repair Initiative from Habitat Philadelphia

West Philadelphia Repair Initiative

The West Philadelphia Repair Initiative (WPRI) is our home repair program that assists low-income homeowners residing in the East and West Parkside, Belmont, Mantua and Cathedral Park communities of West Philadelphia in the overall maintenance and improvement of their homes.  WPRI (formerly 'The Other Carpenter') has completed more than 750 projects since 2001 with the help of volunteers and engaged community members.  WPRI's repair program is based on Habitat's traditional model of homeowner participation, in which the homeowner works with staff and volunteers on repairs and improvements, and contributes is responsible for 25% of the cost of materials.
