Other Ways to Volunteer

It's not always about hammer and nail. There are many ways to get involved with Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia!

If hammer-and-nailing is not your thing, we have plenty of alternative opportunities for volunteer service. See the steps below for getting involved in non-construction volunteering.

Alternative Opportunities for Volunteer Service

  1. Complete the Habitat Philadelphia volunteer registration form.

  2. RSVP and attend a "Getting Started as a Volunteer" orientation session. There will be two sessions offered a month. A tentative schedule of orientations is listed below. When you register we will let you know if there have been any changes or additions to the schedule. Orientation dates are also posted on our website on the community calendar. You can RSVP by selecting an orientation date when you fill out the volunteer registration form or by emailing the volunteer coordinator at 215-765-6000 ext. 10.

  3. After the orientation, you can sign up for a day and time to volunteer. Some positions require an additional training session, but in most cases the group orientation is all you need.

  4. In addition, you will receive an invitation to join the Habitat Philadelphia Volunteer Group on Yahoo where you can sign up for build days, stay up to date on Habitat Philadelphia events, vote on locations and activities for volunteer social events, talk home repair, construction and more. Non-Construction volunteer opportunities will also be listed on the calendar. If you do not have a yahoo account, you will have to sign up for a yahoo id. It is free and you only have to use it to sign into the group. Please see the volunteer manual for more details.

    If you don't have internet access, you can still be an active volunteer! You can request a mail application with volunteer orientation dates. RSVP to a Getting Started as a Volunteer Session by calling the volunteer coordinator at 215-765-6000 ext. 10. After the orientation, please let the volunteer coordinator know which non-construction volunteer opportunities you are interested in.

Aluminum Cans build Habitat homes

We are now seeking volunteers interested in helping us start an aluminum can collection program. This is a great way to get involved with Habitat. Almost 63 billion of the 100 billion aluminum cans produced each year in the United States are recycled. That leaves billions of cans left to be recycled each year-- cans that are worth millions of dollars! For more information, contact Larisa Forest at 215-765-6000 x17.

Women's Build - Houses built by women
