Construction volunteers help to build Habitat houses in Philadelphia

We welcome volunteers of all skill levels to join us as we transform lives and our city by building quality homes in partnership with families in need.

As a construction volunteer, you will work with skilled Habitat staff and Partner Families on many homebuilding projects—from framing walls to landscaping.  We train you and have all the tools you need.

Our construction volunteers are very committed to our work.  It's important to arrive on time for your shift, and to plan to be there for the full day.  Our staff begin the day with a safety orientation and/or project instructions that you need to know.

Physical Demands: Construction volunteers should have a moderate level of physical fitness and ability, and should be able to do the following:

-Perform moderately strenuous bending and reaching activities

-Lift 25 lbs. repeatedly

-Safely balance on stairs and uneven surfaces

-Work in a dusty and active environment without climate control of any sort

-Be comfortable with climbing and working from a 3-ft. stepladder.
