Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia partners with community volunteers and hardworking families to build decent, affordable homes all over the city of Philadelphia. Habitat Philadelphia is committed to making the dream of homeownership a reality for families with low incomes.

Our Mission is to transform lives and our city by building quality homes in partnership with families in need, and by uniting all Philadelphians around the cause of affordable housing. 

Our Vision is a city where all Philadelphians live in safe, affordable homes.

We Accomplish This By:

Faith in Action:  Reaching out from our Christian roots, we provide a powerful opportunity for all people to put their core beliefs about justice, loving our neighbors, equity and the environment into bricks and mortar action.

Stewardship:  We carefully and creatively manage all resources entrusted to us to build more, build smart and build well.

Conscience and Action:  We believe affordable housing is a human right.  We raise awareness and call our partners to action; it is not acceptable for our neighbors to live in demoralizing housing conditions. 

No Profit, No Interest:  We are invested in people, not profits.  Partner families commit 350 hours of “sweat equity” to substitute for a down payment and towards their zero-interest mortgage.  Partner families’ mortgage payments are paid forward into our “Fund for Humanity,” which is applied to our next project.

Global Mission:  We are an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and change-agent in the global community.  We build in our backyard, and tithe to international affiliates to support the elimination of poverty-housing in the world.

Partnership:  We welcome anyone willing to constructively swing a hammer and make homes a reality.  We are all part of the solution to achieve affordable housing.

Homeownership:  We are committed to families who would not otherwise have the ability to purchase a home.  We believe homeownership breaks the cycle of poverty.  We partner with families before, during and after their home is constructed.

Diversity:  We value diversity and inclusion.  We model racial and social healing through our diverse board, staff, and neighborhoods where we build.
